ABOUT THE “PLANES OF THE HEAD” CREATOR, JOHN ASARO
The Original Planes of the Head, as well as subsequent heads and bodies, were designed and developed by John Asaro. John was raised in Southern California where he attended the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena California. He also attended the Art Students League in New York City. He left a twelve-year career in commercial art to become a fine artist. He later taught figurative painting at the Art Center College of Design where he developed the concept of “Planes of the Head.” He no longer teaches, choosing instead to concentrate on painting full time. He holds an honorary doctorate from the Academy of Art College in San Francisco. The Planes of the Head mannequin has been available since 1976. “This knowledge of the head is only a start.
